After waiting for more than 4 months, the Nokia X6-00 (RM-559) device gets a new firmware update to version 30.0.003 (the previous firmware update was v21.0.004, on 9 July 2010). This firmware update was released on 26 November 2010. You can now update your Nokia X6 devices with the new firmware either via OTA (Over The Air, dial *#0000#), or via Nokia Software Updater (get the installer here) or OVI Suite (get the installer here) on your PC. You can check out the list of changelog for the new firmware update v30.0.003 after the break.

The official changelog for firmware update 30.0.003:

  • Here and Now
  • New version of Ovi Maps and Ovi Store
  • Improved Browser
  • Improved chat in Ovi Contacts

But before you start the updating process, it is highly recommended that you have backed-up all of your personal data in your phone, in order to prevent any accidental loss. Use the backup tools, either from the Nokia Software Updater or OVI Suite. During the backup process, please do not use your phone and make sure the battery is fully charged. Your phone will restart by itself during the installation of the firmware update (it may take for several minutes). For Mac users, you can download the related software for your Mac computers here.

Please take note that it may take some time before the new firmware is available for your regions/countries. For Malaysia, the firmware update is available this morning (29 Nov 2010), as the update was yet to be released last night. As far that I'm concerned, I believe this is the fifth firmware update for the Nokia X6 devices. You can discuss about the new firmware update at Daily Mobile forum. You can also find out about the firmware updates for other Nokia devices at Nokia - Device software update.
